Jay Sengupta has over 15 years of experience as a mediator, adjudicator and investigator. She has extensive experience mediating and adjudicating employment, human rights, disability, education, professional misconduct and sexual harassment and sexual abuse claims.
Currently, in addition to her private practice, Jay is an external adjudicator with the Canada Industrial Relations Board (CIRB) and is a member of the Public Service Grievance Board, the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal, the NWT Human Rights Adjudication Panel and the Law Society Tribunal.
Previously, Jay spent a decade working as a full-time Vice-Chair of the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, the Child and Family Services Review Board, the Custody Review Board and the Ontario Special Education Tribunal. Jay was also an assessor under the Canadian Armed Forces sexual misconduct class action settlement.
Jay is available to conduct labour arbitrations and mediations in both public and private sector environments by
videoconference or in person.

As a labour arbitrator, Jay is effective at helping parties resolve disputes through mediation, where possible, and to conducting efficient and fair hearings when required. |
HUMAN RIGHTSThrough her work with the Human Rights Tribunal of Ontario, the Northwest Territories Human Rights Adjudication Panel and the Canadian Human Rights Tribunal, Jay has gained significant experience and expertise in all aspects of human rights law. She has mediated and adjudicated hundreds of human rights complaints alleging discrimination and harassment in respect of employment and services. |
WORKPLACE MEDIATION AND INVESTIGAtion
Jay has successfully mediated and adjudicated numerous workplace disputes and has experience conducting investigations that are procedurally fair and balanced. As a former member of the CAF roster, Jay has specialized training and particular expertise dealing with sexual harassment and sexual violence cases. |
